The Connected Classroom
Hello! I’m Cindy Kim from the Chinese International School in Hong Kong. I started to code with Scratch when I was in Year 7, and then with MIT App Inventor after I joined a coding camp for girls. Later on in Year 10, I had an idea for a Co-Curricular activity where I would teach the primary students (Year 5 - 6) at our school coding through MIT App Inventor. I chose to use MIT App Inventor due to its clear structure and versatile use - with just the right blocks you are able to create anything you have in mind! After a year of planning and organizing, I created the activity and it lasted a semester each year (it’s been two years now), and logged my process on a blog. It serves to not only demonstrate my progress but also to act as a guide for those who want to do the same. There are a variety of pages ranging from the projects that my students made to small tips that I acquired throughout the process of creating and experiencing the activity, so please do read it if you need any advice! My contact information is on the blog as well, so please feel free to contact me whenever you need to. Thank you!
